My name is Amy Claeys, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor. I was born and raised in the St. Louis area and received my Master of Arts in Professional Counseling from Lindenwood University in 2012.
Life can be hard. Often times, mental health or life circumstances can get in the way of us living the life we thought we would. My goal is to provide an atmosphere where there is no judgement and to walk alongside you as you navigate through life stressors. People come to therapy for all different reasons and I have helped clients address concerns such as anxiety, depression, self-injury, grief, loss, and transition. I have worked with children, adolescents, adults, and seniors. Whether you are coming to therapy to work on a specific goal or you’re not quite sure why you’re here, I want to help.
One of my favorite quotes is by Victor Frankl: “When we are no longer able to change a situation, we are challenged to change ourselves.” There are times when we are able to make choices to change our external circumstances. However, there are other times when we are unable to change our circumstances. If we change the way we respond, interpret, and think: in the end we are changed.
I am what’s called an eclectic therapist which means I draw from a variety of therapy modalities including: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), and Person-Centered therapies. My goal is to meet you where you are and assist you in reaching your goals. I look forward to working with you!
